Welcome to Leyburn State School!
Leyburn is a small rural town in the Southern Downs and is one of the oldest schools in Queensland. Leyburn State School opened in 1862 and in 2012, we celebrated 150 years of serving our local community and surrounds. Although many improvements have been made throughout the years, our historic play shed continues to be used daily by our students. We are also lucky enough to have our own swimming pool which is utilised by our students in the warmer months and an undercover multi-purpose court.
Our school values of be respectful, be resilient, be responsible and be safe underpin everything we do at Leyburn State School. We are a K–6 school and deliver the Australian Curriculum through a variety of innovative, engaging learning experiences that allow all students to experience success and be the best they can be.
Our school motto, 'we grow with pride', is reflected in the attitudes of the school staff, students and community. Students are continually encouraged to step out of their comfort zone, to try their best and challenge themselves. Our community partnerships are valued and supported through jointly constructed school projects, adding strength to our school motto.
At Leyburn State School, we are committed to developing the whole child: academically, socially and emotionally, and empowering our students in all areas of their lives.
We look forward to working with you.
