Leyburn State School is a co-educational, Education Queensland State Primary School that caters to students from prep to year 7. Leyburn is an historic township located 70 km South West of Toowoomba and 60km from Warwick on the Darling Downs. The school houses a seventeen metre in ground swimming pool, play shed built in 1864 (listed with National Trust), multipurpose court and two multi-age adventure playgrounds.

Currently the school has an enrolment of 30 primary school students including our preparatory class. Leyburn State School is a P-6 school served by staff who are committed to excellent teaching, preparation and planning. Permanent full time staff includes two teachers. Part time staff include: teachers, three teacher aides, administration officer, cleaner, grounds person and pool operator. Itinerant teachers in music, LOTE and physical education also service the school. A learning support teacher, guidance officer, behaviour management officer, speech-language pathologist and an occupational therapist also service the school on a regular basis, catering to students with needs in these areas.

The P&C association supports the school and students within a variety of areas including school excursions, resource purchase, sporting equipment and general assistance throughout the school. Children, staff and families are proud of their school and its achievements.

A high level of communication between all staff members occurs daily with all activities decided upon placed on the term calendar within the office. Staff have significant input into all decisions made within the school.
